My New Coffee Shop Haunt
It’s funny how I scoped out the city I grew up in for weeks in advance for the perfect coffee shop to post up in and get my writing done on a regular basis. I used to have The Java Hut, but it was closed down unfortunately. I refused to accept the fact that I would be house bound every time I decided to have a cup of coffee or tea as I jotted my ideas down electronically via free wi-fi.
The place I write this entry is The Bean Counter on Higland Street in Worcester. It’s got some serious deserts on display and I’m using most of my willpower not to devour them. The coffee is good and they’ve got some really nice teas. It’s nice and quiet and the clientele seems to be mostly WPI students. The staff is generally friendly and non-pretentious like the Java Hut’s too, which is key.
I raise a cup of chai to you. Here’s to settling into obscurity when the opportunity presents itself.

You prefer the failiar company of strangers and the comforting scent of fresh brew when you sit down to play with your mind? You make love to words in public? I would enjoy having such a warm place open during evening hours so that I could endulge in the same comforts….
Hello, clicked on your post from the Today.com home page. Boston and surrounding area must be a fun place to be a writer. I don’t think there is a nice independent coffee shop within 15 miles of my house here in San Antonio!
I keep an odds’n'ends blog, mostly about my own journey in establishing myself as a freelance writer: http://xmasallyear.wordpress.com
I’ll go click on a few of your artiles at AC to help a fellow writer out. : ) Good luck!
