The grass grows taller on the other side
Are you okay with letting your grass grow longer than six inches? I know when I lived in Worcester and I actually had a lawn to mow, the lazy teenager in me just let it go as the rain and sun saw fit. But, realistically anyone who has spent enough money to purchase a home with an accompanying yard, there’s an underlying desire for a manicured landscape encompassing the home you’ve worked so hard for.
What goes into that beautiful lawn? How much municipal water goes into keeping your properly trimmed lawn so green? What are the chemicals used to fertilize the soil that your grass and flowers grow in? Where does the mulch come from and what is it made of? This may seem like a relatively moot point of contention in the realm of fixing the environmental gap, but think about how much developed land must be dedicated to professionally maintained grass and flowers.
